Thanks for your comments Jess. I've been to the Holly Bush as well! I went there for my Birthday last November, we went on a Sunday and had roast dinner...it was delicious! We managed to get into a little room on the left as you walk in with a lovely roaring open fire (I've got a bit of a thing for pubs with open fires!) It was really nice and cosy tucking into a roast whilst keeping toasty warm by the fire. We've been vowing to go back ever since, but haven't made it. If you do go there, I recommend getting the cheese board - it includes a cheese called 'stinking bishop' which is divine!

I imagine the Freemasons to be a great place to go in the Summer, as you can sit outside and look out over the heath.

Let me know if there is anywhere else you recommend, as I'm loving exploring the area.

I too adore Hampstead, although actually live in Primrose Hill. Apparently the Hollybush in Hampstead is also amazing - really old, great menu, great decor etc. Have been meaning to try it for ages.

Thanks for the recommendation - might try the Freemasons Arms next time I'm in the area.
